Biostatistics
The GCRC Biostatician, Chul Ahn, PhD, is available to assist investigators
in study design and analysis. Dr. Ahn has over 20 years experience
assisting broad range of investigators from most medical specialties
and is committed to teaching and training researchers. He reviews
all protocol submissions and reports to the SAC at their monthly meetings,
identifying any statistical weaknesses or errors. Specifically, Dr.
Ahn can provide input to investigators advising on study design, including
sample size, randomization and stratification; data collection methods;
data management; interim and final analysis; and data interpretation
and presentation.
Dr. Ahn is very active as a faculty member in the Center for Evidence
Based Medicine and is active in training young investigators and
promoting clinical research and collaborations using effective statistical
methods. He has written methodological papers regarding the design
and analysis of data yielded from GCRC protocols, as well as co-authoring
numerous publications from GCRC investigators.

Informatics
Phillip Reeder is the manager of the CRU Informatics Core which provides
hardware, software, workstations, printers, scanners and other accessories
for use by investigators for data entry and collection. Selection
of software, developing case report forms, organizing datasets and
choosing strategies for data manipulation and storage are all areas
for which he can provide expertise to researchers. His responsibilities
include maintaining a flexible and effective networking system that
allows investigators to communicate with and access information from
other locations and institutions.
The Informatics Core employs
the latest security and automatic back up systems to protect and
secure data. Mr. Reeder is available to train research investigators
and their support staff in the use of various software programs
that will facilitate their protocol. He can also assist with ensuring
compliance of regulations regarding patient privacy and developing
a data sharing plan that meets federal guidelines.
